Deion Sanders embraces Emma Hayes as USA women train in Colorado

Must read

The US women’s national team was paid a special visit by Colorado football coach Deion Sanders on Wednesday – and ‘Coach Prime’ shared a nice moment with USA boss Emma Hayes.

Ahead of a pair of pre-Olympics friendlies vs. South Korea on June 1 and 4 (the first being in Commerce City, Colorado), the Americans are practicing on the school’s campus.

And as seen in a video shared by the USWNT’s official X account, Hayes was hugely excited to meet the NFL Hall of Famer Sanders.

Sanders clapped his hands in anticipation as he walked up to Hayes, who said, ‘I’m so happy to meet you, come here.’

The pair then shared a hug before continuing their conversation, while they also posed for a photo holding up a USA scarf.

Hayes also posed with a Colorado scarf the day prior as she stood with two Colorado soccer staffers.

Meanwhile, the USA women also posed for a photo with a smiling Sanders, as the USWNT’s X account captioned the post ‘Neon Deion meets the #USWNT.’

Sanders is entering his second season at Colorado after joining from Jackson State,

Hayes, meanwhile, was named the USWNT’s new coach in November but stayed on until the end of Chelsea’s season in May.

She departed the Blues as the most decorated women’s manager in British history, with seven league titles, five women’s FA Cups and two women’s League Cups.

A day prior on Tuesday, Hayes took her first training session with the US women’s national team as the Americans begin their preparations for the Olympics.

The USA will begin their Paris Olympics campaign on July 25 vs. Zambia before facing Germany and Australia in group play as well.

Hayes’ squad will play four warmup friendlies before the tournament, including games against Mexico on July 13 and Costa Rica on July 16.

Hayes named her first squad last week ahead of the friendlies with South Korea, which will take place in Commerce City, Colorado and then St. Paul, Minnesota.

She will then name her final squad for the Olympics ahead of the friendlies vs. Mexico and Costa Rica.
