‘Deluded’ Meghan thought she was ‘above’ Victoria Beckham due to royal titles

A bombshell new book by a leading royal insider has claimed the real reason for the demise of Meghan Markle’s friendship with Victoria Beckham was the “deluded” Duchess’s jealousy over the Beckhams’ wealth.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly tried to mend their feud with Princess Catherine before her return to the spotlight.

According to reports, the Duke and Duchess extended an olive branch to the Princess last week before the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

The Princess of Wales surprised many when she appeared alongside other royal family members at Buckingham Palace for the King’s Birthday celebrations.

According to a New York Post source, the couple have attempted to reach out to Catherine as she continues treatment for her cancer.

“Both Harry and Meghan have been following Kate’s recovery with huge interest, but sadly it’s had to be more from afar because their lines of communication with the palace and the Waleses, in particular, are very limited, to say the least,” the source said.

According to the source, the couple has reached out to Princess Catherine and sent her their best wishes as she continues her recovery.

“When Kate gets back into action, their hope is that it might take some of the heat off them and possibly trigger a truce with her and William, and with the King, too,” the source said.

Victoria, 50, and her husband David, 49, were once part of the Sussexes’ star-studded social circle and attended Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding alongside the likes of George and Amal Clooney, and Oprah Winfrey.

The friendship hit the rocks not long after the Sussexes left the royal family in 2020, allegedly because Meghan accused Victoria of leaking stories to the press, which left her husband David “furious”.

However, royal author Tom Bower believes the demise of the friendship was linked to Meghan feeling “above” Victoria after marrying Harry in 2018 and gaining a royal title.

“In Meghan’s celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame,” Mr Bower wrote in The House of Beckham.

“As a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself that her status in the Royal family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order.”

The author later revealed that Meghan was disappointed after discovering her new royal life would not include mansions or constant jet setting.

This revelation allegedly caused friction with the Beckhams as Meghan grew jealous of Victoria’s wealth and global fame.

“She was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself,” he wrote.

“They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts and much more money.

“And she was soon to be a duchess.”

The Beckhams have never publicly acknowledged the end of their friendship with Harry and Meghan, but the power couple appear to be focused on convincing King Charles to grant David a knighthood.

Leaked emails from 2017 revealed the former England captain’s disappointment at continually being snubbed for a knighthood after earlier earning an OBE from Queen Elizabeth II in 2003.

In those emails, which were sent to a member of his then-publicity team, Beckham took aim at the honours committee and labelled them “unappreciative c***s” for refusing to grant him the knighthood.

Seven years on, Beckham has been announced as an ambassador for King Charles’ charitable foundation.

“The Beckhams have decided this brand is just too toxic for them and they might align themselves with the royal family,” royal reporter Sarah Hewson told TalkTV last month.

“Because ultimately you can’t be on both sides in this trans-Atlantic spat.”
