Departing Tottenham star pens heartfelt farewell to supporters after transfer

Joe Rodon has bid farewell to Tottenham Hotspur following his transfer to Leeds United this week.

The 26-year-old Wales international made the permanent move to Leeds following his impressive loan spell there, as part of the £40million package that brought Archie Gray to Spurs, with the 18-year-old costing Spurs just over £25million and Rodon around £15million in the final year of his Tottenham contract.

Rodon penned a four-year deal at Leeds after making 50 appearances for the Yorkshire club across all competitions last season as they ended up on 90 points but just missed out on promotion to the Premier League following a 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley.

“A huge thank you to everyone at @spursofficial,” Rodon posted on his social media accounts along with photos of him with Tottenham captain Son Heung-min and his compatriots Ben Davies and Gareth Bale from recent years. “It was a pleasure to play for the club with such great teammates and I would like to thank the fans for the support they showed me throughout my time here. Now it’s time for a new adventure!”

Some of his former Spurs team-mates replied to the post, including fellow Wales international Brennan Johnson who responded “Good luck brother”, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg said “Warrior, best of luck”, James Maddison added “Good luck mate” and Davies joked “Goodbye my friend. Now I’ll only see you at Wales camp 5 times a year”.

On returning to Leeds permanently, Rodon also posted: “So happy to be back at this great club! I’ve always felt at home here and I’m looking forward to a big season!”
