Drew Barrymore revealed her secret battle with ‘self-doubt’ ahead of her visit to Australia after five years
Drew Barrymore recently revealed her secret battle with ‘self-doubt’ as she is gearing up to visit Australia for the first time in five years.
During a candid interview with the Sunday Telegraph ahead of her visit, the 49-year-old actress, who is set to grace the stage as the guest of honour at Wanderlust’s True North event, opened up about her persistent struggle with self-doubt.
The actress went on to add that she turned to alcohol and other ways to ‘escape’ the thought process.
She said: “I used to be the most unsafe place I ever knew, that’s why I was always outward or I would drink or I would do many things to escape this cage.”
Drew, who is known for her roles in Charlie’s Angels and The Wedding Singer, explained: “I don’t know, I am going to be 50 and I have to build a house in here that is pleasant to be in because the outside world is not within my control.”
“I want to be able to turn inside myself and know I can find some quiet, which is a shocking turn of events.”
For the unversed, Barrymore is looking forward to sharing her life’s journey at the ICC Sydney Theatre on August 2, 2024.
