Must read

Police have slammed a driver who was filmed swerving through a southern suburbs car park as multiple young women dangled out car windows.

Shocking footage posted on Tuesday night shows a white Hyundai hatchback with red p-plates screeching through a rooftop car park at Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre.

Three young women are filmed screaming as they hang outside the vehicle’s windows. The car is filmed travelling at fast speeds over speed bumps and through marked parking bays.

“Just a usual night up at Cockburn Rooftop these days … of course it’s a p-plater,” the original poster said.

WA Police have since told 7NEWS they are investigating the incident.

“Behaviours such as this are inherently dangerous, not only to those driving the vehicles but also to the passengers, spectators and anyone in the vicinity,” a spokesperson said.

Road safety advocate Robert Pike, who lost both of his legs in a car crash at age 17, said the video was concerning.

“It’s all a joke, and it’s all fun until someone gets injured or someone dies… it can easily happen,” he said.

Mr Pike lost three of his friends in the car crash after the speeding driver hit a puddle before veering into a tree.

“The reality is that video that I’ve just seen could have gone bad really quickly, just like my story.”

“My hope is that they hear my message and that type of behaviour doesn’t happen.”
