It’s been three decades in the making but Eddie Murphy is back as Axel Foley, the street-smart police officer from Detroit, Michigan.
Now the fourth installment in the franchise that began back in 1984, Murphy and many of the cast and crew were on hand for the world premiere of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F at the Wallis Annenberg Center For The Performing Arts on Thursday, June 20, in Beverly Hills.
The film’s leading man, 63, struck a number of poses for the cameras alongside his leading lady, wife Paige Butcher, 44.
Murphy looked stylish and cool in an all-black ensemble consisting of slacks with a suede jacket over a matching t-shirt, and shiny leather shoes.
Rounding out his overall look, the actor and comedian wore a pair of dark sunglasses, while having his dark hair closely cropped.
Murphy’s fiancée, whom he has been dating since 2012, showcased her fab figure in an orange dress that hugged her womanly curves while also teasing admirers with a plunging neckline.
The Australian actress, who has starred in such films as Something’s Gotta Give (2003) and Big Momma’s House 2 (2006) also donned a pair of black open-toe heels, and had her dark brown locks pulled back off her face and into a tight ponytail.
The proud parents of daughter Izzy, eight, and son Max, five, the couple were all smiles as they struck pose after poses by themselves before joining others from the cast.
At one point, the couple snuggled up for a family photo with three of Murphy’s 10 kids: Bria Murphy, 34, Shayne Audra Murphy, 29, and Bella Murphy, 22.
Some of the familiar faces from the franchise, such as Judge Reinhold, who reprises his role as police officer William ‘Billy’ Rosewood, would also take part in group shots in a mix-and-match black suit and dress shirt.
His character’s former partner at the Beverly Hills Police Department, John Taggart, played by John Ashton, was also there to celebrate the big premiere in a black suit with a light blue shirt.
Some of the crew from the old films that are back for this fourth installment, such as Bronson Pinchot, 65, as Serge the former art gallery salesman turned weapons dealer, and Paul Reiser, 68, as Detective Jeffrey Friedman.
Kevin Bacon, 65, who has been added to the cast as Captain Cade Grant, a police captain in the Beverly Hills Police Department, looked his normal cool self in a blue suit with black boots.
Another newcomer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 43, showed off his impeccable fashion sense in a black pinstripe, three-piece suit
Singer-songwriter and producer Durand Bernarr, 35, deiced to join in on the fun and attend the event all decked out in a unique black ensemble, consisting of slacks with a sheer top, a duster coat, and platform boots.
In the film, Axel Foley has returned to Beverly Hills after his daughter Jane’s life is threatened. She and Axel team up with her ex-boyfriend, and his old pals John Taggart and Billy Rosewood to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy, according to Wikipedia.
The Beverly Hills franchise has been dormant since the third installment hit theaters 30 years ago in 1994.
The original Beverly Hills Cop (1984) was a bona fide hit in the US, grossing more than $234 million dollars against a $13 million budget, making it the highest grossing movie of that year.
Three years later, Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) turned into another smash at the box, earning $299.97 million while working with a bigger budget of $27 million.
It would be six years until the third installment, Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), hit theaters but it take a big dive down in the moneymaking department, bringing in $119.2 million with a $70 million budget.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 3.
