Former daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has made a huge decision on her career, years after she was cancelled following toxic workplace allegations from former employees.

Suggestions have emerged as to why Comedian and TV star Ellen DeGeneres has abruptly cancelled a few of her upcoming comedy shows.

Ticketmaster has revealed that four of the comedian’s upcoming shows have been cancelled, shortly after kickstarting her multi-city stand-up tour.

‘To Di For’ podcast host, Kinsey Schofield joined Sky News host Rita Panahi to discuss why Ellen had cancelled some of her upcoming events.

Ms Schofield questioned whether or not it was due to a lack of people buying tickets.

“I wonder personally if people aren’t buying tickets and that’s why they had to cancel the shows,” she said.

DeGeneres’ career began to enter freefall back in 2020 when a BuzzFeed News report publicised allegations of a toxic workplace culture behind the scenes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Several former employees claimed they faced racism, fear and intimidation on the set of the show, with some even claiming they were instructed by their direct managers to not speak to the host if they saw her around the workplace.

DeGeneres called curtains on her popular daytime talk show in 2022 however has continued to work, performing comedy sets, with a Netflix special coming out later this year.

Ellen has been on the road recently in her farewell/comeback tour – ‘Ellen’s Last Stand…Up’ and was happy to discuss her exit from Hollywood during a recent three-night set at the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa, California.

During the show on Monday night, she addressed the allegations bluntly as she tried to catch the audience up on what had been going on in her life.

“Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean,” she said, according to SFGATE.

According to the publication, she went on to defend herself and said that while she was sometimes harsh and an immature boss, she was not mean.

“Next time, I’ll be kicked out for being old. Old, gay and mean, the triple crown,” she said referring to how her career was set back when she came out as a lesbian in 1997.

“I can be demanding and impatient and tough. I am a strong woman.

“I am many things, but I am not mean.”

Entertainment Reporter Richard Reid and Sky News host Gabriella Power have discussed the iconic 2014 Ellen DeGeneres Oscar selfie to see how much has changed with the celebrities in the photo.

March 2 marked the photo’s tenth anniversary, with the photo featuring celebrities like Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and more.

“Oscar host Ellen, ten years ago she was on top of the world … she’s taken a beating of course, cancelled,” Mr Reid said.

“Mr Kevin Spacey, two-time Oscar winner … cancelled.

“My beloved, Brad and Angie, I thought that was a love story … but they’re gone too.”

DeGeneres also took part in a Q&A session on-stage, where she dropped a bombshell announcement when she was asked whether she would make any appearances in theatre or film productions in the future.

“Um, no,” she replied. “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”

The revelation comes amid fresh controversy surrounding the 66-year-old, after she cancelled four shows from 27 scheduled dates on her tour of the US which is running until August 17.

Fans were left in the dark as the reason for the cancellation of the shows in Dallas (July 10), San Francisco (July 21), Seattle (July 23) and Chicago (August 11), was not revealed.
