Wee Waa Cancer Support Inc. are again holding the Biggest Morning Tea on Wednesday June 5, commencing at 10 am.
This year the group are slightly varying the format of the day with a change of venue, and are holding the event at the CWA rooms in Rose Street.
For the last several years it has been held at Julie and Chris Crutcher’s home, and last year at Cheryl and Paul Boyle’s home in Rose street, but this year the group decided to try something different, and go to a popular local venue.
The CWA rooms are a very pleasant location, as well as having a lovely kitchen to work in.
Having the Morning Tea indoors takes the worry out of the weather, as the Biggest Morning Tea is a few weeks later than usual this year, and June can be a very cold month, as we all know.
Everyone is very welcome to attend.
In the past, people have said that they understood the event was by invitation, but this is definitely not the case.
Anyone and everyone are warmly invited to come along and enjoy the morning.
The Biggest Morning Tea, which is celebrated Australia wide, is the only fundraiser the local group conduct for the year.
It is widely recognised that we do not receive any government funding, and a large percentage of monies raised from the morning tea stay locally for the benefit of local patients, with the balance going to the Cancer Council to fund research.
A cancer diagnosis can be very traumatic for patients and families involved, and we offer emotional and financial assistance to those affected, to assist with allaying the fear and apprehension experienced.
The group cannot approach individuals to offer assistance, but anyone who feels they could benefit please contact 0429 073 624, and you will be answered by a friendly and understanding local person.
Please keep the date in mind, Wednesday, June 5, at 10am at the CWA rooms in Rose Steet.
The cost for morning tea is $15, and lunch will be available for an added charge of $10.
The group hope that all members of Wee Waa and district will consider coming along to make the morning an outstanding financial and social success, and in doing so help those who are struggling with illness at the present time. If you would like any further information about the Biggest Morning Tea please phone Pat Kiem 0429 954 495.
