(NewsNation) — The son of former NFL player Daniel Muir is currently missing amid domestic battery allegations, according to Indiana State Police (ISP).

Bryson Muir, 14, has not been seen since June 16 after leaving a family member’s residence with his mother in Ohio, according to authorities. The car driven by Bryson’s mother, Kristen Muir, was pulled over minutes after, but there was no sign of Bryson.

A statewide Silver Alert has been issued in the search for the boy, who police believe is in “extreme danger.”

“It was minutes, it wasn’t a very long period of time whatsoever,” ISP Captain, Ron Galaviz told NewsNation affiliate WXIN. “But in that period of time, Bryson wasn’t able to be found. We don’t know where he went.”

Daniel Muir is now a person of interest in the case.

As for what happened, Bryson’s grandmother, Cheryl Wright was given an explanation from police.

“The officers believe that he had probably been switched into another car,” Wright told WXIN.

In Saturday’s press release, police remarked they able able to contact Bryson’s parents, despite their initial uncooperativeness, but have not yet been able to locate the missing teen.

A meeting between investigators, Bryson and his parents was scheduled for 12 p.m. Friday, before the Muirs “backed out,” according to authorities.

“While the Muirs are beginning to show signs of cooperation, Bryson has still not been seen or located by investigators from either ISP or DCS,” the statement read.

Police have released two photos of Bryson Muir, one of which shows a black right eye. ISP was requested by the local Department of Child Services (DCS) to investigate allegations of domestic battery to Bryson “on or about June 18,” two days after he went missing.

Wright has also accused Daniel Muir of beating up his son, adding it was her Garfield Heights, Ohio home, where the 14-year-old was last seen.

She told WTHR that her grandson had a swollen face, black eye and fat lip.

“He just said that his dad did it… but he wasn’t angry at his father,” Wright told the outlet.

“He told me that he deserved it and it was OK,” Wright said. “So I told him that it wasn’t and that nobody should beat their children like that, not if they love them.”

The Muirs’ car and Logansport home are owned by religious group, Servant Leader’s Foundation – according to WXIN.

Bryson Muir – a native of Logansport, Indiana – is 6 feet 2 inches tall, 185 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange Under Armor t-shirt and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information regarding Bryson Muir’s whereabouts to call 911 or 800-382-0689.
