Fire rips through two Brisbane homes, firefighters battling to save two more

A fire has ripped through and destroyed two Brisbane homes, and multiple people have been treated at the scene for burns, as firefighters battle to protect two other properties.

Multiple firefighter crews are at the scene on Evelyn Street in Grange, with the Queensland Fire Department issuing a smoke alert for residents in the area.

The blaze ripped through one of the homes about 2pm.

Paramedics have taken a man, who had significant burns to his legs, hands and face, to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. A second person was taken to hospital in a stable condition with superficial burns.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said just before 4pm that a third patient was also being assessed on scene.

Firefighters remained at the scene with a second home fully engulfed by flames.

A third and a fourth home were being protected by other firefighters.

“Multiple Queensland Fire and Rescue crews are on scene at a fire that is affecting several properties on Evelyn St, Grange,” the QFD said in an alert.

“Crews were called to the blaze around 2.10pm and firefighters are currently working to defend properties and extinguish the fire. All occupants are reported to be out of the buildings.
