Former Rutgers Forward Oskar Palmquist has signed with a professional basketball team back in his home country of Sweden. Last Monday the Swedish basketball club, Borås Basket, announced that Palmquist will be joining their ranks for the upcoming season. Him and his former teammate, Andre Hyatt, have both signed professional contracts overseas this offseason with Hyatt joining the Belgian team Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen.
“I’ve been cheering for the team since I was little,” Palmquist said, “I have had many options now after college, but it felt right to come home. Borås has always been my team and I am very excited to run out in Boråshallen in front of our fans.”
Boras participates in the Svenska Basketligan, which is the top league in Swedish basketball.
Palmquist decided to return home instead of playing out his last season of college eligibility. While from all accounts being a good locker room presence for the Knights, he never seemed to get much playing time. Palmquist only starting a few games because of starting Forward Mawot Mag’s injury his Junior year before being used sparingly again his senior year.

Also fun fact, Borås Basket was once named Magic M7 Borås for the 1999-2000 season because former NBA star Magic Johnson was a minority owner. At 40 years old he suited up for them for five games and they went undefeated during that span.
