A former NBA player is in legal trouble again after being arrested near his hometown.
Delonte West was arrested this week in Virginia and charged with violating conditions of his release and resisting arrest. Both are misdemeanors.
According to ESPN, West was spotted by police at 1 a.m. Thursday in Groveton, Virginia. Following a pursuit, he was found unresponsive and taken to a hospital.
After starring at St. Joe’s, West went on to an eight-year NBA career from 2004-12 that included time with the Celtics, Supersonics, Cavaliers and Mavericks.
West publicly disclosed his diagnosis of bipolar disorder during his playing career, and since his retirement has had multiple legal and substance abuse issues. Former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban helped him check into a rehab facility in September 2020 after he was seen panhandling in Dallas.
