Manchester City. West Ham United. Leicester City. Paris Saint-Germain. Four of the world’s biggest names in football are coming to Perth.
Why? To play in the Perth International Football Cup which will run from August 26th to September 1st, 2024.
WA Premier Roger Cook said “The eyes of the football world will again be on Perth this August and September, cementing our reputation as a global sporting event destination.
“The Perth International Football Cup is the first of its kind, and will see some of the world’s best players and teams compete right here in WA, including some of our Matildas.”
Australian star players Mary Fowler, Alanna Kennedy, Mackenzie Arnold, Katrina Gorry, Clare Hunt, and Courtney Nevin are among the current players set to head to Perth as part of the four teams, fresh off the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman added, “Hosting these events clearly has tremendous value for the WA community as we’ve seen registrations in women’s football reach record highs since last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.”
As part of the competitive exhibition tournament, each football team will play two matches with the winners playing off in the Final.
