French Open 2024: Day 11 order of play and schedule – Aryna Sabalenka in action, Alexander Zverev faces Alex De Minaur – Eurosport

Must read

The 2024 French Open has continued to enthral and delight in equal measure, as the men’s and women’s singles quarter-finals continue.

Elena Rybakina begins a day packed full of heavyweight tennis clashes when she takes on Jessica Paolini. Whoever emerges victorious will be in action against the winners of the second women’s quarter-final clash between Mirra Andreeva and world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka.

Meanwhile, the men’s side of the draw has been blown wide open after news emerged of Novak Djokovic’s shock withdrawal on Tuesday due to a knee injury. Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur will both be looking to enhance their prospects of taking the Serbian’s Roland-Garros crown when they face each other in the evening match.

The action from the clay courts of Roland-Garros is live on Eurosport and discovery+.

Top men’s match – Alexander Zverev v Alex de Minaur

Alexander Zverev’s path to the last eight has been far from straightforward after needing five sets to overcome Tallon Griekspoor and Holger Rune in the last two rounds.

The reigning Italian Open champion has won each of his last 10 matches, and would secure a fourth consecutive French Open semi-final appearance with a win over De Minaur.

His Australian opponent will have something to say about that after beating Daniil Medvedev in four sets in the last round, and became the first man from Down Under to reach the last eight at Roland-Garros since Lleyton Hewitt 20 years ago.

Zverev has the overwhelming edge in the head-to-head record, with seven victories compared to just two for De Minaur in their nine meetings to date.

Top women’s match – Mirra Andreeva v Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka is looking to add a third Grand Slam title to her name, but she has an unpredictable test in store in the quarter-finals against 17-year-old Andreeva.

Andreeva is competing in her first major quarter-final in what has been a memorable campaign so far for the teenager.

She defeated former semi-finalist Victoria Azarenka 6-3 3-6 7-5 in the second round before overcoming Peyton Stearns and Varvara Gracheva both in straight sets.

Sabalenka, meanwhile, has not dropped a single set so far and will fancy her chances against Andreeva who she has beaten both times they have met on the WTA tour.
