The Glenorchy Knights Football Club are kicking new goals following the completion of a $1 million refurbishment project, fully funded by the Australian Government.
The funding allowed Glenorchy Knights Football Club to secure permanent clubrooms at its long-standing home ground at King George V Football Park.
The project involved purchasing and refurbishing the former Football Tasmania administration building, as well as constructing new internal and external viewing areas for football spectators to enjoy.
Further project works delivered include the construction of a function room, office space, upgraded bathroom facilities, upgraded commercial kitchen, kiosk and bar facilities.
The redeveloped clubrooms will enable the Glenorchy Knights to better generate income that allows the club to further support investment in the local football community, to ensure that financial capacity does not present a barrier to participation in the sport of football.
Quotes attributable to Federal Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Carol Brown:
“The Australian Government is committed to improving sporting infrastructure across Tasmania.
“By funding this much-needed upgrade to the aging facilities at King George V Football Park, we have provided Glenorchy Knights Football Club with the infrastructure it requires to meet the growing needs of its expanding player and supporter base.
“As well as delivering lasting upgrades that will leave a legacy in the community well into the future, this project also supported 29 jobs during construction.”
