‘Good days and bad days’: Princess Kate releases health update

Must read

Princess Catherine has announced her return to some public royal engagements, which include the upcoming Trooping the Colour parade, as she delivered a positive health update.

Former ITN Royal Editor Tim Ewart says people in the UK are still “quite concerned” about Princess Kate’s health.

Prince William has told veterans at a D-Day event that Princess Kate is getting better and would love to have attended as his wife continues her cancer treatment out of the public eye.

“There have been no formal medical bulletins, we still don’t know what form of cancer Kate has or specifically what treatment she is receiving,” Mr Ewart said.

“The crucial moment in the short term is going to come over the next week when she is due to appear at Trooping the Colour.”

She is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment after the cancer was discovered following abdominal surgery in January.

In a statement on Friday evening local time, Kate revealed she will be attending the Trooping the Colour event on Saturday in honour of the Sovereign’s birthday.

Kensington Palace released a new image of Kate amid the news she is making “good progress”. Picture: Kensington Palace.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she said.

“On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting.

“But on the good days, when you feel stronger you want to make the most of feeling well.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

An image of the Princess was released alongside the statement and is understood to have been taken earlier this week on the grounds of the Windsor estate.

The image depicts Kate surrounded by greenery, dressed in a beige blazer and jeans and gazing wistfully in the distance.

It comes after speculation on whether the Princess would be well enough to attend the Trooping the Colour event after she did not attend the Colonel Review which is the dress rehearsal for the parade.

The Princess of Wales has not attended a public event since the Christmas Day service at Sandringham with her husband Prince William.

Kensington Palace had previously revealed that despite taking a break from public royal duties, the Princess was still being  briefed on her major royal causes on an intermittent basis.
