Gracie Abrams Dubs Taylor Swift a ‘Legend’ for Saving Them From Apartment Fire

Must read

When we say Taylor Swift is on fire, we don’t mean for it to be literal!

Unfortunately, it sounds like that was almost the case after a long night of dinner, drinks, and songwriting with Eras Tour opener Gracie Abrams, which ended with the “Superman” songstress, 34, saving the pair from disaster as she extinguished a so-called “bonfire” from her own kitchen island.

The “Risk” singer, 24, opened up about the dramatic incident, which occurred several months ago, before Swift’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, had been announced to the public, in a new interview with Billboard celebrating her own upcoming album, The Secret of Us, out this Friday, June 21.

Sitting somewhere in Swift’s New York City residence, the two heard a distant noise at some point in the night that the cat mom assured Abrams was most likely just Meredith, Olivia or Benji getting into their usual feline antics. While she was probably correct in that aspect, what they didn’t immediately realize was that the sound was that of a candle being knocked over.

It’s unclear what time the fire began, nor how long it took the two to notice, but, according to the younger artist, it was well past six in the morning by the time it was finally extinguished.

“She was such a legend – I don’t know how at this hour or in our state she knew what to do,” Abrams applauded her savior, though she didn’t provide further details about the extent of the fire or Swift’s rescue, other than to reveal that the two suffered from “an insane cough” for several weeks as a result of the fumes from the fire extinguisher.

She also teased a video of the heroic moment, backtracked by the sound of Abrams’ cry-laughs over the whole thing, though we imagine that will not be released for public consumption, much to our dismay.

Parade has reached out to Swift’s rep for more information.
