May 28, 2024 – The NBA announced today that Hornets forward Grant Williams and center Marques Bolden will visit Jakarta, Indonesia, from May 29 – June 2 to engage with fans and aspiring players in the first-ever Jr. NBA Indonesia Week.
Williams and Bolden will coach youth players at an NBA Cares clinic on Friday, May 31 and at the Jr. NBA Indonesia 3v3 Tournament on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 at Kuningan Stadium in the Plaza Festival shopping mall.
“I’m excited to travel to Jakarta to interact with fans and players throughout the first-ever Jr. NBA Indonesia Week,” said Williams. “I look forward to sharing my knowledge of the game with the participants and experiencing Indonesia’s unique and vibrant culture alongside my teammate and good friend, Marques.”
Bolden, a naturalized player for the Indonesia Men’s National Basketball Team, earned a gold medal at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
“Returning to Indonesia as an ambassador for the NBA is an incredible honor and privilege,” said Bolden. “As a member of the Indonesia Men’s National Team, I’m proud to use my platform to help grow the sport and inspire more Indonesian youth to play the game that I love.”
The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills and core values of the game in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents. Since its launch in Indonesia in 2014, the Jr. NBA has reached more than 24.2 million boys and girls across the country.
