Must read

The hairdressing empire Maurice Meade has turned 50!

Maurice Meade and his wife Rosemary put on a celebration to remember at the Old Flour Factory now called Spring with staff, family and friends.

The Meades opened their first salon in 1974 and became a household name in WA with eight salons and 150 staff.

Over the decades, Maurice Meade was the go-to salon for punk-inspired looks of the 1980s, the messy hair of the 1990s grunge era, and the popular balayage look.

Maurice also became known for celebrity styling after doing Dolly Parton and Kenny Roger’s hair in 1987 and styling Celine Dion’s locks for her Telethon appearance in 1992.

The secret to the Meades’ success, they say, is their luxurious yet personable service.
