Harry’s ‘friend’ teams up with Meghan’s worst enemy for pub venture

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reeling after another longtime friend appears to have abandoned the Sussexes to team up with the Duchess’s nemesis Jeremy Clarkson.

Sky News Contributor Emily Carver says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been “firing shots” against the Royal Family for so long now.

Ms Carver told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio that Prince Harry “gets away” with saying “nasty” things about his family.

Royal experts say Prince William will ‘explode’ if Harry and Meghan talk about Kate Middleton anymore.

Broadcaster and former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson, who owns and runs a farm shop in the Cotswolds, has linked up with a surprising business partner to operate a pub he’s bought in the area.

According to the Daily Mail, Clarkson has asked one of the Duke of Sussex’s “old friends” to handle the pub’s liquor application and act as “landlord” on the venture.

The tabloid’s royal insider Richard Eden uncovered a paper trail linking Clarkson’s pub to a business run by Harry’s close friend Johnny Hornby.

“I can disclose that the licence to serve alcohol was transferred to a company called Baobab Operations Ltd last month,” Mr Eden revealed in the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

“The firm is run by Johnny Hornby, the advertising king who was chairman of Prince Harry’s African charity Sentebale.

“Hornby’s business partner, Mark Devereux, also has his name on the application.”

Mr Hornby is a longtime friend of the Duke of Sussex and served as a trustee for Harry’s Sentebale charity tackling HIV in Africa for eleven years but quit the charity last year.

Meanwhile, Clarkson, 64, emerged as one of Meghan Markle’s most vicious critics after penning a controversial column in The Sun newspaper in 2022.

In the column, Clarkson described how he hated Meghan on a “cellular level” and suggested she had used “vivid bedroom promises” to transform Harry into a “warrior of woke”.

He also wrote he dreamt of the day “when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant ‘shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her”.

The vile remarks prompted widespread condemnation and came on the heels of the Sussexes’ Oprah Winfrey interview and Netflix series slamming the monarchy.

The shocking pub blow comes after several other longtime friends of Harry have noticeably cut ties or distanced themselves from the former working royal.

Infamously, Harry was absent from close friend Jack Mann’s 2023 wedding despite prominently including Mr Mann in his 2018 nuptials to Markle.

Mr Mann served as an usher during Prince Harry’s 2018 wedding to Meghan at Windsor Castle but the Duke failed to attend Mr Mann’s wedding to osteopath Isabella Clark at St Peter’s church in Suffolk last year.

Although the exact reason Harry declined to attend his friend’s wedding is unknown, the Duke of Sussex has admitted falling out with some of his longtime friends after “stepping back” from the Royal family and sitting down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“Several close mates and beloved figures in my life had chastised me for Oprah,” the Prince wrote in his memoir Spare.

“’How could you reveal such things? About your family?’ I told them that I failed to see how speaking to Oprah was any different from what my family and their staff, had done for decades — briefing the press on the sly (and) planting stories.”
