UAB men’s basketball head coach Andy Kennedy rounded out his 2024-25 staff with the addition of Alex Hausladen, Parker Lamerre and Keenan Gumbs.
“Excited to welcome Keenan, Alex and Parker to UAB basketball.” Kennedy said, “All three bring experiences that will enhance our program as we continue in our quest to compete at a championship level.”
Hausladen joins the Blazers as the Director of Basketball Operations after spending the 2023-24 season as an assistant coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi where the Islanders won 21 games and reached the CIT. Prior to his time in Corpus Christi, Hausladen had stints as an assistant coach at ULM, Texas State and Southeastern Louisiana at the Division I level.
Parker Lamerre comes to UAB as the Blazers’ new Director of Player Relations after spending two seasons at Odessa College as an assistant coach. Prior to his two seasons in Odessa, Lamerre served as an assistant at Arizona Western, where he coached current Blazers Yaxel Lendeborg and Marquis Hargrove.
The Blazers have also added Keenan Gumbs as the team’s head strength coach. Gumbs spent the 2023-24 season as the assistant strength coach for Kentucky men’s basketball. Gumbs played four years of professional basketball in Austria, Sweden and Hungary from 2019-23. He began his collegiate career at Division III Schreiner in Kerrville, Texas before transferring to Liberty for his final year of eligibility in 2018-19 where he helped the Flames reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
UAB looks to return to the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25 in the program’s fifth year under Andy Kennedy. The Blazers have won 101 games over that time, tied for 10th among all Division I programs.
