Must read

The AFLW Hawks will take to the field for their first match on Sunday 1 September.

Hawthorn’s 2024 NAB AFLW fixture has been unveiled, with the brown and gold kicking off the season at its beloved home of Kinetic Stadium on Sunday 1 September at 1.05pm against Carlton.

The Hawks play a further three games in Frankston, facing Gold Coast in Week 6 (Wednesday 2 October at 5.15pm), West Coast in Week 7 (Saturday 12 October at 1.05pm) and GWS in Week 8 (Saturday 19 October at 1.05pm).

The Week 7 game against the Eagles will also see the Hawks proudly don their 2024 Pride Guernsey as part of the AFLW’s Pride Round.

As mentioned on Thursday, Hawthorn’s final home game will be played at Cairns’ Cazalys Stadium in Week 9 on Thursday 24 October at 6.45pm AEST/ 7.45pm AEDT against Melbourne, which marks the start of the AFLW’s Indigenous Round.

An away game against Richmond at the Swinburne Centre will close out the fortnight of the league’s Indigenous Round and the season overall for the Hawks.

The Hawks will also play away games at another three Victorian venues and two interstate venues.

Hawthorn Chief Executive Officer Ash Klein said the fixture provided some great matchups for the Hawthorn family to enjoy.

“We’re excited to be beginning our campaign with a massive contest against Carlton in a family-friendly timeslot at our Frankston home at Kinetic Stadium,” Klein said.

“With two of our three remaining home games in Frankston coming on a Saturday afternoon, it shapes as a great opportunity for the brown and gold faithful of all ages to enjoy the unique experience of watching their beloved Hawks playing by the beach.

“And, of course, our Week 9 home game in Cairns against the Melbourne Demons at Cazalys Stadium shapes as the perfect travel game for all Hawks members and fans across the country, with the footy-loving region to remain our AFLW home-away-from-home for at least the next three seasons.

“Rounding off our year with away Victorian games against Collingwood, St Kilda, Geelong and Richmond, there will be plenty of chances to show our support for our new-look Hawks under Senior Coach Daniel Webster.”
