Adam Simpson’s final press conference captured the attention of footy fans across the country on Tuesday.
From an awkward exchange with West Coast’s CEO Don Pyke to delivering a not so subtle jab to one journo, it had it all.
But it was a moment before the departing coach even reached his chair behind the desk that captured the attention of fans watching on.

With the auditorium full of Eagles players and coaches, Simpson entered and made his way to the front of the room.
As Simpson however made his walk he appeared to whisper something in the direction of Eagles young star Harley Reid.
While not entirely clear what was said, Simpson can be heard saying something as he strolls past Bailey Williams and Reid.
Footage of the moment quickly spread around social media with footy fans questioning what the message from Simpson might have been.

Many listeners to the upload believe Simpson says “you had your say” while others believe he tells Reid “you have to stay”.
Several users online pointed to Reid’s bemused face as well as pointing out AFLW legend Daisy Pearce’s reaction.
One user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote: “Daisy Pearce glaring at Bailey Williams like an angry mum.”
Another user on Reddit said: “Daisy Pearce reaction was clearly shock … (and) he definitely said ‘you had your say’.”
“I agree, Daisy’s reaction is telling, she turns to look at Reid and she’s not smiling or laughing.”
Views were split over whether a potential “you had your say” comment was about at the infamous player text messages which spoke out against Simpson.
Reid took to social media in the wake of Simpson’s axing where he posted a heartfelt message to his first AFL coach.
“Couldn’t thank this bloke enough for what his done in such a short time of my career,” Reid wrote alongside images of him and Simpson.
“One of the greatest to ever do it and has put up with so much crap.”
While Simpson’s tenure at the helm of the Eagles comes to an end following 11 seasons, he was offered a farewell game against Brisbane at Optus Stadium on Sunday in an awkward moment.
Eagles CEO Don Pyke said: “It’s important we pay respect for what he’s done for our club and recognise the wonderful contribution he’s made.
“With that in mind, we’ve requested Adam coach the side one final time this weekend. As much as today is the announcement of the finish, we’d love Adam to coach one more time.”
A surprised Simpson quipped: “We haven’t made that call just yet, Pykey if I was going to coach this week.”
Pyke replied: “We’d like you to.”
The Eagles announced that assistant coach Jarrad Schofield will step into the role as the interim coach as the club begin the search for the individual to replace Simpson.
