How a Perth school changed Hugh Jackman’s life

Must read

Aussie actor Hugh Jackman has warned his followers to be careful about what they wish for after a wish he made while at a Perth school came true.

The 55-year-old took to Instagram on Thursday to share a heartwarming story about his time at WA’s drama school WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts).

“So in 1992, I was an acting student at WAAPA, and in our break, our summer break, I went over to England and at one point I went to the National…. I think it was to see Angels in America,” Jackman said.

“I was so blown away by it, I went outside and my friend who I was with took a photo of me outside the Cottesloe Theatre at the National with my hands in like a prayer position and my head looking up to the sky.

“I got that photo and I stuck it above my bed for the rest of my time at drama school and three years after I left drama school, maybe two, I ended up being at the National Theatre… it was one of my dreams come true doing Oklahoma!

Jackman revealed he visited the National Theatre again this week and as he walked past the spot, he got flashbacks to what had happened all those years ago.

“I remembered, I took this sharp intake of breath and I took a photo in the same spot I had 32 years ago dreaming one day of being there.

“My friend said ‘Be careful what you wish for’ and I said ‘Yeah be very deliberate about what you wish for because it can come true’ and if you really believe it, it will.”

The video has been played more than half a million times and received more than 800 comments from followers relating to his experience.
