Aussies are saving hundreds of dollars on their groceries bills at a little-known ‘mega discount outlet’ in Melbourne.
Bargain Depot Epping, one of Australia’s largest branded grocery clearance outlets, is helping shoppers survive the cost of living with drastically discounted buys.
The outlet stocks brands such as Oral B, Sakata, Bondi Sands, Chicken Tonight, T2 drinks, Sukin beauty products, Doritos, Lotus Biscoff, Aveeno and Continental Soup – with most items only costing $1 or $2.
Bargain Depot also carries a wide variety of party supplies, American confectionery and drinks.
The store manages to keep costs down by sourcing from wholesalers and manufacturers looking to clear their excess, short-dated, seasonal or end-of-line stock.
The Epping hot spot is shopper Carla Perichon’s top spot for cheap name-brand shopping.
‘You will not find deals like this anywhere else,’ she said in a gushing TikTok video.
Visiting is her ‘favourite time of the week’, with the shopper posting a video of herself loading up a full sized trolley with many discounted snacks and beauty products.
She makes a point of regularly visiting the shop before her usual fresh food grocery run to load up on bulk goods and sale items.
Bargain Depot is not the only store offering a competitive price alternative to Woolworths and Coles.
Skippy’s Fresh Frootz in Victoria Point, Queensland which opened six years ago, is another rare haven for shoppers in Australia at the moment.
