South Carolina women’s basketball and ‘love’
In September, South Carolina chose the theme of the season, which was “Love.”
Coach Dawn Staley has chosen themes for each year every season beginning in 2012-13.
“As with most seasons, the LOVE theme has many meanings, all of which are rooted in loving the game of women’s basketball. Staley often notes that ‘if you love the game, it will love you back’ – and her career as a player and now a coach is evidence of that,” the Gamecocks said in a school release.

For most of the NCAA tournament, the Gamecocks frequently used the expression, “Nothing beats love.”
