Before KFC became the world’s second-largest fast-food chain, Colonel Harland Sanders cooked basic dishes at a roadside gas station in Kentucky.
Now, the world’s first Colonel’s Lodge has opened right here in Australia, to mark Christmas in July.
Set in the idyllic Blue Mountains of New South Wales, KFC is offering up the wood-panelled lodge for a group of special customers.

Fitted out with a giant oil painting of the Colonel and a KFC-themed bedspread, three trips to the Colonel’s decked-out lodge are up for grabs when you spend $30 in the KFC App.

Marketing expert Peter Applebaum said KFC’s decision to offer up the Colonel’s cosy cottage to customers was an excellent idea.
“The fact that KFC is investing so much time, effort and money in marketing suggests they’re in an all-out battle for share of stomach,” Applebaum said.
“They need to go out there, get the attention of consumers and justify why they should choose their product over so many others out there.
“The more you can physically get your customers involved in your product or service, the better it is.”
