A traveller has been slammed by hundreds for his ‘gross’ and ‘selfish’ act while on board a flight.

Brenda, from Nebraska, was comfortably seated in the middle aisle until the passenger beside her took his spot.

The ‘rude’ man spread his legs wide enough that one was on Brenda’s side and touching her leg, making her feel uneasy.

‘Why do so many guys on airplanes think they can spread out and consume other people’s space?’ she wrote angrily on Facebook alongside a photo of his leg.

‘This guy has his whole left leg in my leg space. C’mon! I don’t even know you! I hate not having an aisle seat.’

Hundreds were shocked by the man’s ‘audacity’, ‘entitlement’ and disregard of cabin etiquette.

The photo shows the man’s leg leaning over into Brenda’s space and many urged her to shove back or say something.

‘Manspreading – almost as infuriating as mansplaining,’ one commented.

‘Nothing more gross than a stranger’s leg in contact with yours. Especially a bare leg. Trigger for me!’ another said.

‘Yep, why is it always men who think they can invade your space? Be subtle push him back into his own corner,’ a third wrote.

Another agreed and said Brenda should ‘push back’ to reclaim the space.

‘I’m done moving for men. When walking in public spaces I don’t move out of their way anymore. Men expect us to move. Nope. F*** that,’ she wrote.

One more added: ‘This is why I always try to get the aisle seat so I can move my legs away.’

Another woman said if she arrives at the seat first she ‘always puts her leg at the edge of the boundary’ and doesn’t move an inch to ‘claim the ground’.

While many agreed the man’s act is ‘annoying’, they also blamed the airline for the lack of space.

‘This is the fault of greedy airlines making the seats too close together,’ one said.

Another wrote: ‘I blame the greedy airlines. The seating space is ridiculously small. Big people have an impossible time fitting and not everyone can afford business class.’

Someone else said: ‘My ex is so tall that from pelvis to knee cap he can not mathematically keep his legs parallel unless he was to hike them up the back of the seat. Planes are freaking miserable. You should have asked him to request an exit row seat upon boarding.’
