The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team has added another player to its 2024 recruiting class.

Sussex Hamilton guard Aidan Konop has committed to Wisconsin, he announced Saturday in a post to Twitter. He will join the program as a preferred walk-on, according to Mark Miller of Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook.

Konop averaged 20.0 points and 6.1 rebounds last season, leading Sussex Hamilton to a 20-6 record and ending the season with a 61-59 loss to Homestead in the WIAA regional final. Konop had 16 points in the loss, per WisSports.

Konop, the only in-state product in the Badgers’ 2024 class, joins what’s now a five-person recruiting class for the Badgers.

Wisconsin has three other scholarship freshmen entering the program, two of which are Minnesota products that have been committed to Wisconsin for over a year: point guard Daniel Freitag and forward Jack Robison. The other incoming freshman, 6-foot-11 Serbian forward Andrija Vukovic, signed with the Badgers earlier this month.

Wisconsin had as many as six walk-on players on its roster last season, yet three left via the transfer portal this offseason. Following the departure of guards Luke Haertle, Ross Candelino and Isaac Lindsey, the remaining players who’ve had walk-on status at one point of their Badgers careers are forward Carter Gilmore and guards Jack Janicki and Isaac Gard.

Wisconsin coach Greg Gard alluded in early May that the Badgers would utilize players on their roster who could retain their walk-on status to free another scholarship, which they later used to add Vukovic.
