This year, we are bringing back something IndyStar used to do: separate all-East, West, North, South and Indy postseason teams. These are in addition to our Super Team, which honors Central Indiana’s best of the best. But we cover more than 80 high schools, and there are a lot of boys basketball players worthy of recognition — well beyond the 15 Super Team members.
The all-North team:
First team
Trey Buchanan, Westfield, Sr.
The 6-1 guard, who will walk on at Iowa, averaged 13.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game as a senior for Westfield, leading the Shamrocks to a 19-3 record. Buchanan, an Indiana All-Star, shot 40.8% (60-for-147) from the 3-point line. He averaged 14.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists as a junior and contributed 6.3 points as a sophomore on a sectional title team.
Aaron Fine, Noblesville, Sr.
The 6-3 Fine, an Indiana All-Star who will walk on at Purdue, averaged 17.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 steal per game for 22-3 Noblesville. Fine, a four-year varsity player, finished his career with 1,204 points, 277 rebounds and 252 assists. He shot 41.5% from the 3-point line as a senior.

Keenan Garner, Fishers, Sr.
The 6-6 Garner, an IU Indianapolis recruit, averaged 15.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocked shots per game as a senior for the Class 4A state champions. Garner shot 59% from the field, including 42.9% (15-for-35) from the 3-point line. In his two seasons at Fishers, he totaled 693 points, 409 rebounds, 149 assists and 61 steals.
JonAnthony Hall, Fishers, Jr.
The 6-1 three-sport standout (Division I football recruit and state track qualifier) played his best basketball late in his junior season to help lead Fishers to a Class 4A state championship. Hall averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game on a team that finished 29-1. He had 23 points and 10 rebounds in the state finals against Ben Davis. Hall shot 64% from the field and 71% from the free-throw line.
Hunter Walston, Noblesville, Sr.
The 6-6 Walston, a Grace College recruit, averaged 12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals to help the Millers to a 22-3 season and No. 2 ranking in the state before falling to No. 1 and eventual state champion Fishers by two points in the sectional championship. Walston shot 50% from the field and 73% from the free-throw line.
Second team
Nic Book Westfield, Sr.
The 6-8 New Zealand native made his only season at Westfield count as he averaged 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game to help the Shamrocks to a 19-win season. Book shot 54% from the field and 57% from the free-throw line.
Alex Couto, Carmel, Jr.
The 5-10 junior guard averaged 13.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game to help Carmel to a strong finish to the season and a 12-11 record. Couto did most of his damage behind the 3-point line, shooting 38.7% (74-for-191) from the arc.
Donovan Hamilton, Hamilton Southeastern, Sr.
The 6-4 Hamilton, a Purdue football wide receiver recruit, averaged 14.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game for the 15-10 Royals. Hamilton, the wide receiver Mr. Football position award winner as a senior, finished his high school career with 766 points, 314 rebounds, 141 assists and 91 steals.
Maguire Mitchell, Zionsville, Jr.
The 6-6 Mitchell averaged 20.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists to lead the 11-13 Eagles in scoring and rebounding. He shot 51% from the field overall, including 33.3% (41-for-123) from the 3-point line, and 76% from the free-throw line. Mitchell has an offer from UIndy.
Rob Sorensen, Guerin Catholic, Sr.
The 6-foot Sorensen, a Wabash College recruit, averaged 16.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game to lead Guerin Catholic to a 22-8 record and Class 3A semistate championship appearance as a senior. Sorensen shot 43.5% (83-for-191) from the 3-point line. For his career, Sorensen scored 1,144 points and shot 42.2% from the 3-point line, helping Guerin to a 3A state finals appearance as a junior.
Third team
Bryson Cardinal, Guerin Catholic, Jr.
The 6-8 Cardinal averaged 13.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game to help Guerin to a 22-win season. He shot 55% from the field and 64% from the free-throw line for a team that reached the Class 3A semistate championship. Cardinal averaged 6.1 points and 4.3 rebounds as a sophomore on a team that reached the 3A state finals.
Justin Curry, Noblesville, So.
The 6-3 combo guard averaged 10.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game to help Noblesville to a 22-win season and Class 4A No. 2 ranking. Curry shot 36.0% from the 3-point line (41-for-114) as a sophomore. He picked up an offer during the season from Indiana State.
Evan Harrell, Carmel, So.
The 6-8 Harrell played his best basketball late in the season as he averaged 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds for a team that finished 12-11. Harrell shot 52% from the field and 81% from the free-throw line as a sophomore. He will be a key player for the Greyhounds the next two seasons.
Taden Metzger, Fishers, Sr.
The 6-2 Metzger, a Huntington recruit, averaged 8.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists for the Class 4A state champions. Metzger was one of the top 3-pointer shooters in the state in his two seasons for Fishers, shooting 44.6% from the arc combined as a junior and senior, including 45.3% (63-for-139) as a senior. He was 6-for-11 from the 3-point line in the win over Kokomo in the regional.
Drew Snively, Zionsville, Jr.
The 6-5 Snively averaged 17.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists as a junior for the 11-13 Eagles. He shot a team-high 54% from the field, including 40% (28-for-70) from the 3-point line, and 81% from the free-throw line. Snively will go into his senior year with 622 career points.
