Influencer breaks silence over wedding donation backlash

Must read

Tammy Hembrow has hit back at comments about her wedding invitation that was leaked online, which revealed she was asking for donations from guests and telling them to not bring their children.

The Australian influencer took to TikTok, where she has more than two million followers, to talk about the wedding details which have sparked an internet frenzy.

Hembrow clears the air in the video — which has already reached 736k views — clarifying that she wasn’t “asking for donations” at her wedding, and that her “own children will be there”.

The 30-year-old is set to get married in Byron Bay this November to former Love Island star Matt Zukowski, 28.

The pair’s wedding invitations were reportedly leaked by influencers who have made the guest list for their big day.

The bride-to-be began her TikTok by saying “Get ready with me while I address these crazy headlines”.

Hembrow touches on how her invitation informs guests about the “wishing well” which will give family and friends a chance to donate money instead of gifting the newlyweds a material gift.

“Your presence on our day is the greatest gift of all. However, if you would like to gift us something a wishing well will be at our wedding for your contribution and well wishes,” the invitation reads.

This came as a shock to the public as the fitness entrepreneur currently has a net worth of around $50milion, according to the Australian Financial Review’s Young Rich List.

“I think a wishing well is a pretty normal thing for people to have at a wedding,” she said in the TikTok.

“I’m pretty sure every wedding I have ever been to has had that.

“None of my friends and family thought it was weird,” she added.

After clarifying her wishing well, the mother of three went on to discuss why her friends and family will attend her wedding without their kids.

“Your presence on our day is the greatest gift of all. However, if you would like to gift us something a wishing well will be at our wedding for your contribution and well wishes,” the invitation reads.

The invitation read: “Whilst we love your babies our wedding will be child free.”

“Babysitting can be arranged upon request.

“Bubs are more than welcome to join us at the recovery party on Sunday,” it read.

Hembrow explained how she had been contacted by media outlets asking her to comment on whether her children would be in attendance.

The Saski activewear owner has three kids of her own, Wolf, 9, and Saskia, 7, who she shares with former partner Reece Hawkins, along with one-year-old Posey who she shares with ex-partner, Matt Poole.

“People think I’m not going to have my kids at my wedding,” she said.

“Of course, my children are going to be at my wedding.

“I don’t want other people bringing their kids because let’s be real kids can be a bit full on, I want the other adults to be able to relax and enjoy themselves,” she continued.

Followers were concerned as this was the third time the fitness guru had been engaged, but the new couple told the Daily Mail earlier this year that they “couldn’t be more happy”, shutting down allegations that the pair were rushing down the aisle.
