Influencer mum mocked for videoing daughter’s cross country race

Must read

Former Miss Universe Australia turned influencer Rachael Finch has been ridiculed online after bizarrely following and recording her daughter’s recent cross-country race at a school carnival.

Small Business Women Australia Founder Amanda Rose has questioned if radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson are “genuinely that detached from morality” after Jackie ‘O’ reacted to virtual reality
pornography live on air.

“It was a very deliberate decision on their behalf to do this,” she told Sky News host Steve Price.

“Are they genuinely that detached from morality that they think doing something like this is okay?”

Ms Rose lamented the lack of responsibility displayed as the show is known to “influence so many youth”.

“We are trying to protect people from this type of activity,” Ms Rose said.

“This was actually crossing a line and how many times does someone need to cross the line before that line then becomes normal and then we have another line and, before you know it, morality has disappeared from society.”

The Miss Universe Australia winner turned fitness influencer, 35, shocked her followers on Friday when she uploaded a video of herself jogging behind daughter Violet, eight, during the running race.

In the clips, which were posted to Instagram Stories, Finch can be seen running directly behind her daughter on the track among other students.

“Here we go, it’s the second downhill,” she called out to her daughter in the clip.

“Suck in the air. Go, go go!

“Watch the rocks! That’s it Violet, well done.”

Perhaps sensing that the footage may raise eyebrows, Finch captioned the footage “crazy cam”, but the joke failed to stop many followers questioning why the influencer chose to insert herself in the running race.

The video was also picked up by popular podcast hosts and sisters Amy, Kate and Sophie Taeuber, who took aim at the mummy blogger on their Outspoken podcast this week.

“This was next level,” one sister said.

“I don’t understand how this school let her run behind her child during the race. Surely it would have been really off putting for the other kids?” another agreed.

“Why the hell is she allowed at the school on the course?” another added.

The bizarre incident is not the first time the health and fitness influencer, who boasts about 320,000 Instagram followers, has caused a stir over her parenting choices.

In April, Finch copped backlash after sharing the meals she feeds her husband and two children, with some commenters accusing the star of underfeeding her kids and promoting eating disorders.

The uproar started after Finch shared photos of the bland-looking “naked burgers” she feeds her family that used lettuce leaves instead of bread buns.

“Gee wiz. It’s funny you know — they wouldn’t blink an eye if I ordered cheeseburgers and fries from a fast-food chain and put that on the table,” she wrote in response to the feedback.

“But home-made naked burgers full of vegetables will create psychological damage? Go figure.”

Finch, 35, rose to fame after being crowned Miss Universe Australia in 2009 before competing at the global pageant in The Bahamas, where she placed third runner up.

The model later parlayed her pageant success into gigs on Dancing with The Stars and as a Channel Seven correspondent but has since turned her efforts to being a fulltime influencer.
