Injury report: Season over for Finlayson

Forward Jeremy Finlayson has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2024 season.

JEREMY FINLAYSON has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2024 season, with scans confirming a small and stable laceration to his spleen.

Finlayson felt pain in his sternum after a collision on Sunday and reported worsening symptoms following the game.  

Despite improvement overnight, the 28-year-old underwent further investigation on Monday which revealed the extent of the injury.

The forward does not require surgery, but he will need an extensive period to rest and heal.

Todd Marshall has escaped serious injury and will be tested this week, with imaging showing a strain to his hip.

The key forward went up for a marking contest on Sunday, but fell in a tangle of players and took no further part in the game.  

Lachie Jones has entered concussion protocols after a head knock, while Josh Sinn, Ryan Burton and Trent McKenzie will all be tested at training this week and are expected to be available for selection.

Port Adelaide will name its side for Saturday’s game against Richmond on Thursday at 5:50pm ACST.
