The latest on Jones, Gallagher and Worrell
Crows wingman Chayce Jones is expected to be available for selection this weekend after recovering from a minor back injury.
Jones was a late withdrawal from Adelaide’s team that beat GWS on Saturday after reporting back soreness following the captain’s run.
“Chayce completed the captain’s run so we thought all was fine, but he just felt something in his back wasn’t quite right, it seized up a little bit and didn’t improve overnight so we took a no-risk approach,” High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.
“He trained fully today (Tuesday) so we expect him to be available this week.”
Irishman Karl Gallagher will be sidelined for the next few weeks after hurting his hamstring in the SANFL on the weekend.
“Karl will miss two to three games, it’s a pretty standard hamstring so unfortunate news for him,” Burgess said.
Defender Josh Worrell joined his teammates at training on Tuesday and was involved in ball drills as he eyes a return from surgery on a broken arm in the next month.
“Josh is involved in all non-contact drills now so that’s great, he’ll do two or three weeks of that and then put his hand up for selection after that,” Burgess said.
“We need to get final clearance from the surgeon but it’s all looking good for him for three or four weeks’ time.
“It’s been hard for Josh in the gym because of his arm but he’s been doing heaps and heaps of running, so a bit similar to Elliott Himmelberg (when sidelined by a fracture cheekbone) in that he won’t miss a beat with his fitness.”
