The couple, along with children Sonny, 10, and Rudy, six, spent six days cycling, eating and hiking up a cliff on a magnificent family holiday.

“Our 10-year-old king of the mountain was exceptional as always (my inspiration to ditch the e-bike – a decision my body very much noticed, tho I did prefer the lighter bike) and my husband lugged a load of six-year-old girl up hills in 34 degrees to earn his tortellini each day,” Zoë shared on Instagram.

She said they cycled about 40 kilometres a day, ate some of the best meals of their lives, kayaked “on an insanely fast river” and agreed to a hike up the Arco Via Ferrata without quite realising what they were signing up for.

“[Arco Via Ferrata] is in fact very high and very steep assisted rock climbing, which scared the S–T out of the kids, and by kids I mean Hamish and I,” Zoë said.

“The actual kids loved it. Sickos.”

The Blakes have become known for their cycling holidays, which they dub ‘Blakes on Bikes’.

Before adding Italy to their list, they had already cycled New Zealand’s Otago region and West Coast plus Provence, France.

“These bike trips are my total happy place,” Zoë wrote, although she had no idea how she became ‘a bike person’.

“This is interesting to me as someone who doesn’t pick up a bike for 350 days a year, but it gives me such a pure, wholesome buzz.

“I think I like that the day is pre-planned and all I gotta do is drink five coffees, put on my sexy puffy riding shorts, roll out, eat and be with my family and nature all day. A true switch-off.”

Earlier in 2024, LEGO Masters host Hamish told 9Entertainment about the lessons he’d learned on being a present husband and father as his career catapulted him to TV fame.

”To be honest… it’s to learn how to say no,” he said, laughing as he clarified “‘no’ to work stuff”, not family stuff”.

“You slowly learn how to de-busy your professional life so you can make room for more of your family.

“I’m very lucky in that sense that I can do that, I can prioritise them.”
