Hyderabad: This summer, city residents are favouring international travel destinations over domestic ones for their holidays.Travel agents report a high demand for countries like the Maldives, Thailand, Singapore, and various European hotspots such as Spain, France, and Portugal. “European countries like Milan, Amalfi, Rome, and Frankfurt, along with Tokyo, are becoming extremely popular and are trending as top international destinations,” said Amanpreet Singh Bajaj, Airbnb’s general manager for India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Families are particularly drawn to the beaches of the Maldives, Singapore, and Bangkok. “Six-day packages to Singapore and similar locations are highly sought after this season,” said Abdul Majid Faheem, chairman of the Travel Agents Federation of India – Hyderabad, noting that destinations like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia are seeing less interest this time.Hyderabadi travellers are also eager to explore historical landmarks, with Rome and various European destinations remaining favourites. “Nearly 100 customers have booked 10-day packages to Europe. We usually see more inquiries during school vacations,” Majid added.R Gouda Patil, a local tech professional, is preparing for a 15-day trip to Thailand on June 1, costing Rs 1 lakh per person, including flight tickets, hotel stays, meals, water sports, and inter-country travel. “We plan to visit Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Lanta, and Koh Phangan,” he shared. Similarly, K Shruti Krishna, a school teacher, is set to travel to Malaysia with her family. “This is the perfect time for us, as me and my children are on vacation. We’ll be there for a week and return before school resumes,” she said. While international trips are more popular, some residents are still opting for domestic destinations. Tourists are exploring the rich culture of places like Varkala, Varanasi, Goa, Manali, and Kochi. “This summer, my group of hikers and I travelled to Manali with a seven-day personalised trekking package and made unforgettable memories,” shared Krishna Sathvik, a resident of Madinaguda.
