Jack McVeigh signs with Rockets: Boomers forward agrees to two-way contract | Sporting News Australia

Australia’s NBA contingent continues to grow with Boomers forward Jack Mcveigh agreeing to a deal with the Houston Rockets, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc.

McVeigh’s deal with the Rockets is on a two-way contract.

He follows in the footsteps of Jock Landale (2021) and Xavier Cooks (2022) to make the leap to the NBA from the NBL, joining Landale in Houston.

The 6-foot-8 forward is coming off an impressive NBL season with the Tasmania JackJumpers, leading them to the NBL championship, with averages of 16.5 points and 5.4 rebounds on 52.5 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from the 3-point line.

In 2023-24 he was named to the All-NBL First Team, named NBL Finals MVP and capped off his impressive season with selection to the Australian Boomers’ 12-man squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Mcveigh’s two-way contract will earn him $578,577 in the 2024-25 season, equivalent to half of the rookie minimum. 

As a two-way player, Mcveigh is eligible to play up to 50 of the team’s 82 games in the regular season.
