Australian music legend John Farnham has been seen in good spirits celebrating his son’s wedding in a rare sighting after undergoing lifesaving cancer surgery.

Images shared by Rob Farnham on Instagram on Sunday showed John attending his son’s special day earlier this year in his first public appearance since the 2022 procedure.

Farnham’s son posted a touching tribute to his wife in the throwback to the wedding.

“Shared the happiest moment with my favourite person in the universe and she said I do. Melissa, my life is forever better that you’re apart of it,” he posted.

“You looked radiant, beautiful and elegant. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us and I’m truly honoured to have you by my side as my wife for life.”

The wedding took place at Hopewood House in Bowral, in NSW’s Southern Highlands in February.

One of the photos shared shows John smiling next to Rob in a father-son snap.

Another showed him holding wife Jill’s hand as they stood beside the married couple.

Fans were quick to express their joy at the sight of the 74-year-old again, after going through his highly-publicised health battle.

“Congratulations to you both. It’s so nice to see your Dad, he looks fantastic!” one commented.

“Love this photo and John my forever superstar, I am so happy for you and you look amazing,” another said.

“Beautiful you all are and great to see John looking so good and healthy,” a third wrote.

The ‘You’re The Voice’ singer was diagnosed with throat cancer in August 2022 and immediately underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove the cancerous tumour.

After the surgery, he had to endure several gruelling medical procedures including re-constructive plastic surgery, eight weeks of radiation and further surgeries to address arising complications.

The Australian music legend revealed he was given the all-clear from his medical team in July last year, leading Farnham to declare himself “the luckiest man I know right now.”

“It’s been a year since my first surgery and to be honest I’ve lost count as to how many other procedures there’s been since then,” Farnham said in a statement released by his management last year.

“I’m sure someone’s kept track of them all – let’s just say, there’s been a few. But, I’m home now and I’m a very grateful and happy man.

“I’m sitting here in my living room lapping up the attention from my beautiful wife, Jill, my boys Rob and James and my mini Schnauzer, Edmund.”
