Nathan Jones is pleased with how his squad is shaping up after making seven permanent additions already this summer.
Will Mannion, Luke Berry, Josh Edwards, Alex Mitchell, Matt Godden, Gassan Ahadme and Greg Docherty have joined Jones’ side since the end of last season.
Speaking after Charlton’s 6-1 pre-season win at Dartford, he said: “What we said was that we want to come out of the window significantly stronger than when we went into it. Without being disrespectful, I think everyone can see that we’re in a better position.
“The recruitment process is constantly ongoing. We’re not finished yet, but to be in this position with seven permanent signings in before pre-season [is great]. And it’s not just the permanence, it’s the quality of the players we’ve brought in. To attract those to our football club shows we’re in a really wonderful position.
“Everyone’s worked hard behind the scenes, our recruitment team in terms of all that we’ve done. I just want to thank the club – they’ve backed us on everything. We’ve added more quality, more athleticism, more balance – I think it’s been a wonderful window.”
