Kansas State football played host to its last four June official visitors of the 2025 recruiting cycle last weekend and began Monday’s month-long dead period with no immediate new commitments.

Still, it has been a fruitful month for coach Chris Klieman and his staff, who already have added seven pledges with the biggest potential prize perhaps still to come. All eyes now are on five-star Goodland tight end Linkon Cure, the Wildcats’ top target, who made the last of his four official visits over the weekend to Manhattan after previous stops to finalists Kansas, Texas A&M and Oregon.

Cure said last month before the official visits that he plans to make a decision before his senior season at Goodland High School.

The four most recent of K-State’s 10 commitments all are on the defensive side of the fall, including a pair of linebackers, a cornerback and a safety. All four have three-star ratings from both 247Sports and On3.

The linebackers are Sawyer Schilke, from Kearney, Nebraska, who committed on June 14, just one week after receiving his offer from the Wildcats, and Blue Valley High School’s Maguire Richman. Richman visited Manhattan the weekend of June 14 and pulled the trigger five days later.

Schilke, the No. 13-rated player in Nebraska for 2025, chose K-State over offers from North Dakota State and Northern Illinois. Richman visited both Tulsa and Memphis and held an offer from Iowa.

The most decorated of the four was Lakeland, Florida, cornerback JoJo Scott, who also began his official visit on June 14 and committed two days later. K-State not only beat out Big 12 opponents Kansas, Iowa State and West Virginia, but he also had offers from Wisconsin, Nebraska, North Carolina State and Louisville, among others.

Safety Dominic Mitchell, from Phoenix, was another June 14 visitor choose the Wildcats, announcing his decision on June 19. Among his offers were the service academies, Princeton and Connecticut.

K-State pulled out all the stops last weekend in courting Cure, including a golf outing with starting quarterback Avery Johnson, head coach Klieman and associate head coach/co-offensive coordinator Matt Wells. Johnson also posted a photo on social media with Cure and recent Colorado transfer Dylan Edwards, potentially bringing the state of Kansas’ three highest-profile recruits from 2023 and ’25 together.

Other 2025 visitors from last weekend who had yet to announce their intentions were Coffeyville offensive lineman Keiton Jones, defensive tackle Kade Pietrzak from West Fargo, North Dakota, and running back Monterio Elston from Little Rock, Arkansas.
