After his son just went on the deepest playoff run of his NBA career, Karl Towns Sr. is finding some nice success of his own.

Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic reported Friday that Towns Sr., the father of Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns, has landed a noteworthy coaching gig. Towns Sr. has been hired as the head coach of St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, N.J.

The younger Towns, now a four-time NBA All-Star, starred at St. Joseph as a teenager, leading the team to state titles in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Towns was also named Gatorade National Player of the Year as well as a McDonald’s All-American while playing at St. Joseph.

As for Towns Sr., he had a brief playing career himself at Monmouth College. Towns Sr. then went on to become a head coach for 15 seasons at Piscataway Magnet School in New Jersey before stepping away in 2014 to help his son focus on his NBA dream. We have gotten a few glimpses of Towns Sr’s great personality before, and now he is returning to the head coaching ranks for the high school that his son once starred for.
