Midweek racing from Warwick Farm and Sale and we’ve got a horse to follow from each meeting.
Warwick Farm Race 2 – Mawjood
Comfortably the better winner of the two-year-old races, running over a second quicker overall time than the fillies the race earlier. Mawjood was just fair on debut last preparation in a strong maiden at Canterbury but has clearly furnished over the break, winning two trials and running on strongly to score here. The second horse and favourite had debuted behind Straight Charge and was no match late with decent gaps back through the field which is always a good sign.
Sale Race 8 – Lincoln Rocks
Times would suggest this track has played much slower than a soft 6 with only two races close to inside standard time for the conditions. One was the two-year-old race won impressively by Gallant Son and the other was this 1400m contest, won impressively by Lincoln Rocks. He was first-up here (and making his Aus debut) but has returned with a clear new career peak, some 11 pounds better than his win over 2100m at Hastings before a spell. That bodes well for him on our shores and he’ll only improve over more ground.
