Must read

A Kmart customer has issued a new warning to other shoppers after making a disturbing discovery inside a new cleaning buy.

Sharing on a popular Facebook group, the Kmart fan revealed how she recently purchased an Anko Steam Mop from her local store.

But when she returned home and opened up the $49 buy, she found something very unexpected in the box.

Instead of a brand new mop, the shopper discovered a very used, old Dirt Devil Steam Mop in there instead.

It’s suspected a different customer purchased the Kmart Steam Mop and replaced the new buy with their old, broken product before sealing it up and returning it to the store for a refund.

The move meant that the dishonest customer received the $49 product without paying.

In her post, the furious Kmart customer urged other customers to be wary.

“Not a hack, more of a CHECK BEFORE YOU WALK OUT THE STORE!” the shopper said on the Kmart Hacks & Decor page.

“I purchased this steam mop in store yesterday, and you best believe I was SHOOK to get home, open it and find someone’s old dirty, broken and used steam mop inside the box.

“It’s not even Kmart brand. It’s obvious that someone had returned their old mop inside the Kmart box.

“And Kmart have not even checked and just put it back on the shelf.

“Now I am not only without a steam mop but also have to take it back to the store 30 minutes away and hope they don’t think it’s me trying to scam them the way I have been scammed.

“Honestly LOST FOR WORDS.”

7NEWS.com.au understands that Kmart staff are meant to check the contents of boxes on returned buys before returning them to the shop floor.

The post sparked a huge reaction from other Kmart fans.

“God people are scummy!” one said.

Another added: “OMG people are absolute disgusting to do something like this.”

A third wrote: “Oh that is so disgusting, hopefully Kmart don’t think it was you.”

Added one more: “How do people even think to do something like this??”

Others were frustrated that it slipped through the cracks at Kmart.

“The store is supposed to check all returns. This is so scummy it is beyond words who could do this!” one responded.

Another said:”Why is Kmart selling retuned stock? Seriously, and if they were, it should be checked first.”

A third added: “Whoever was on the returns desk that day was super lazy. I had to return an air pump the other day and they did a thorough inspection of the product before authorising the refund.

“So dodgy that they failed to check the product upon return!”
