Based on the 2019 novel by Laura Lippman of the same name, Lady in the Lake explores themes of racism and misogyny in 1960s America in the style of a gripping noir thriller.

The series follows the parallel lives of Maddie Schwartz, a Jewish housewife desperate to reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Sherwood, a struggling mother trying to advance Baltimore’s Black progressive agenda.
However, the women’s worlds collide when Cleo dies and Maddie becomes obsessed with solving her murder as well as the unrelated murder of a young Jewish girl.
