As LeBron James nears his deadline to exercise his player option, there have been talks about him leaving the Lakers. The hype around James and his son Bronny playing together has also been quite silent. It seems as if there will be a sudden decision from either the Lakers or James soon. However, the King and the Lakers might come down to the rumored three-year extension. LeBron will be 40 this December and as of now, the all-time scoring leader hasn’t given any update on when he would like to hang his jersey.
If James does look to explore his options, he’ll be looking at a three-year deal valued roughly at $150 million. According to Chris Mannix, there have been talks in the past that involved trading LeBron away. “There has been some chatter about trading LeBron in recent years as the Lakers have kind of deteriorated. By getting the no-trade clause, he can have some power over them in that particular situation.”, said Mannix.
During the playoffs, James was rumored to sign a three-year $164 million contract with the Lakers. James is eligible for the no-trade clause since he’s spent over four years with the Lakers and has been in the league for well over eight years. However, James can use his player option as leverage to make some changes to his contract that are to his liking. The King will be making $51.4 million following this season.

There’s more chance that James will stay with the Lakers rather than look elsewhere. Though it’ll only be worth it if James plans to join some contender in the East. But why would James think about leaving Hollywood knowing who will be on the sideline next season?
LeBron James might consider partnering up with his friend
The Lakers signed JJ Redick to a four-year deal as he’ll take over as head coach and is responsible for hiring the rest of the coaching staff. Redick and LeBron have an incredible relationship off the court, making a podcast of their own. Not only that, but both have shown how perfectly they monitor games and what plays they’d like. Now that the two are on the same team and in favorable positions, the Lakers might have it all figured out.

Apart from the missing assets, fans and critics have quite some expectations from Redick. The former shooting guard shared his desire to become a head coach one day. Who knew that his wish would be granted in an excellent way? Nevertheless, Jaems should consider staying in LA and giving it yet another go with the roster that is yet to be improved this summer. With Redick on the sidelines, it’ll be a sight to see the King and JJ figure things out.
