Lansing’s beloved Moneyball Pro-Am summer basketball league is back this summer for its 19th season, with games beginning later this month at Holt High School.
The pro-am begins on Tuesday, June 25, and runs through Aug. 1, with games every Tuesday and Thursday evening — other than a break for the week of the Fourth of July holiday, meaning no games on July 2 or July 4.
Game times are 6, 7 and 8 p.m. each night. Admission for games is free, with donations welcome.
Michigan State’s men’s basketball players are again committed to playing in the Moneyball Pro-Am. Same for the players from Central Michigan’s team, according to league founder and organizer Desmond Ferguson. NCAA rules allow for no more than two players from any college team to be on the same pro-am team. So MSU’s players will again be paired throughout the six teams. Rosters will be announced at a later date.
The Moneyball Pro-Am, named for Moneyball Sportswear, began in the early 2000s and gained momentum as a Lansing-area community gem in the last decade during its time at Aim High. This is the pro-am’s third season at Holt High School.
