Leonardo DiCaprio treated his niece Normandie Farrar, 16, to a lavish shopping spree in Beverly Hills over Memorial Day weekend.
While out with his father, George DiCaprio, and stepmother, Peggy Farrar, the 49-year-old Oscar winner was seen spoiling his niece as he took her to various upscale boutiques as well as Tiffany & Co. and Prada.
The teenager, who was notoriously ‘abducted’ at the age of six by her own father, appeared happy as she walked down the sidewalk, alongside her family, with two large shopping bags on her shoulder.
DiCaprio attempted to keep a low profile during the outing as he sported a black Dodgers baseball cap, blue face mask, black puffer jacket and a grey t-shirt.
After indulging in some retail therapy, the group reportedly enjoyed some quality time together at South Beverly Grill.
The family’s sighting comes two months after he and his loved ones enjoyed a rare meal together at Cipriani in Beverly Hills.
Normandie’s parents, Charity Moore, and Adam Farrar, who is Leo’s older stepbrother, were not present on either outing.
Charity and Adam have whirled through their share of headline-grabbing legal problems over the years, including a 2016 arrest for alleged petty theft.
The ‘kidnapping’ scandal unfolded in January 2014, when both Adam and Charity were separately arrested on drug charges.
Adam was apprehended in Texas, where he had decamped with his daughter – illegally, inasmuch as Normanie was a dependent of the court in California because of her parents’ criminal records and was not supposed to be taken out of state.
At the time, Normanie was just six-years-old.
Normandie was discovered in Texas on January 30 and whisked back to California, where she was placed in the care of her grandfather, Leo’s father George DiCaprio.
Meanwhile Adam was arrested and accused by the Los Angeles Police Department of ‘concealing’ his daughter in another state.
At the time, a spokesman for the department of the LA County Department of Children and Family Service told RadarOnline: ‘I am happy to confirm that this child has in fact been found. It’s great news. Beyond that, I can’t really say more.’
Before their estrangement Leonardo and his stepbrother, Adam Farrar, used to be close and had been seen attending a number of Los Angeles Lakers games together.
In 2014, sources told RadarOnline that the pair ‘have had zero contact in recent years and do not get along.’
It is widely reported that DiCaprio was inspired to go into acting after he saw his step-brother carve a career for himself in commercials, movies and TV in the 1980s.
Farrar is best known for his roles in the science fiction series Battlestar Galactica and the ABC comedy-drama Eight is Enough.
However, as DiCaprio’s career took off in the late 90s and Farrar’s came to a standstill, things ended up rather differently for the brothers, who grew up together in LA after DiCaprio’s mother, Peggy, married Farrar’s father, cartoonist George DiCaprio, when he was just one.
Since 2010, Farrar has been in and out of courts on charges of harassment, possession of controlled substances, driving without a license and domestic violence.
In 2000, as DiCaprio was riding the success of his blockbuster Titanic, Farrar was arrested on charges that he attempted to kill his then-girlfriend and made terroristic threats.
At the time, Peggy DiCaprio said of her troubled stepson: ‘Adam is one of the most nonviolent people I know,’ according to New York Daily News.
Farrar was released within 48 hours of his March 2000 arrest, and the charges against him were eventually dropped.
People Magazine reported that two years earlier, the struggling actor landed in trouble with the law after allegedly assaulting a photographer who was pursuing his superstar sibling. Charges were never filed in that case.
