LOS ANGELES – Following a historic run to the NCAA Tournament, LMU Athletics and Head Coach Jason D’Amore have announced a promotion to Michael McCabe after five years as an Assistant Coach. Entering the 2024-25 season, McCabe will be elevated to Associate Head Coach.
“Mike deserves every little bit of this promotion. He has been essential in our program’s success since his start here at LMU,” said D’Amore. “He doesn’t leave any stones unturned in our progression forward and is always looking to learn and get better. Every player on our team has a great relationship with him, which really makes him the ultimate player’s coach. I feel so fortunate for how much he is invested into our teams the last five years.”
McCabe joined the LMU Men’s Golf staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2019-20 school year following a professional career that has spanned over a decade. McCabe has helped LMU reach successes in his time on The Bluff. This past season alone, LMU reached the 2024 NCAA Regional as a team for the first time since 2006, Riley Lewis was named West Coast Conference Golfer of the Year, and Mason Snyder earned WCC Freshman of the Year recognition.
Riley Lewis was a three-time All-WCC golfer with McCabe on staff and has finished first or tied for first in his final three WCC Championship events.
“I am grateful for the continued support from Coach D’Amore and the administration over the past five seasons,” said McCabe. “It’s been a privilege walking the fairways alongside such talented student athletes and I think with the start of our very own tournament, The Pauma Valley invitational hosted by LMU, we are positioned to have continued success from a scheduling and recruiting perspective. LMU won three tournaments this past school year and five in total with McCabe on the coaching staff.
