Victoria and David Beckham have recreated an iconic moment from their 1999 wedding ceremony, slipping back into their infamous eye-catching purple ensembles as they prepare to celebrate a special occasion.
SkyNews.com.au Digital Reporter Reilly Sullivan says Tom Bower’s biography ‘The House of Beckham’ is “very juicy”.
This week, a new biography on David and Victoria Beckham shone new light on Meghan Markle’s friendship fallout with the former Spice Girl.
“It really goes into detail about not only the fallout between Meghan and Victoria but also how the Beckhams and the Sussexes met,” Mr Sullivan told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power.
He said one of the biggest shocks was that Victoria gifted Meghan Markle free designer clothing to wear publicly, but it didn’t translate into great publicity for the Beckham fashion brand.
The couple on Wednesday shared a photo to Instagram showing them sitting on gilded thrones in the same outlandishly purple outfits they wore to their reception in 1999, which was held at a lavish Dublin estate.
“Look what we found,” the pair captioned the post, adding a laughing emoji and a purple heart.
Victoria can be seen perched on the edge of the oversized chair gazing at the camera with a slight smile while David wears a wide grin, looking adoringly at his wife.
Fans of the couple went wild in the comments, dying to know whether the outfits were altered prior to the photo shoot.
“Going to tell my kids these are the Queen and King of England,” one person wrote.
“Where’s Brooklyn wearing his purple cowboy outfit?” asked another.
“Iconic then, iconic now. Happy silver wedding anniversary!
“Surely the genius who had this idea deserves a pay rise.”
David had previously mentioned the renowned purple outfits during his popular Netflix documentary ‘Beckham’ which was released late last year.
“I’m trying to think back to when I decided to wear a purple suit, and I don’t know when that happened,” he said.
“I think I just took Victoria’s lead on it, but what were we thinking?”
Victoria in an interview two years ago said the couple loved having fun and experimenting with fashion.
“We were just having fun with it which, to be honest with you, is kind of the way it should be,” she said.
