The heartbroken sister of a woman allegedly stabbed to death in a Western Sydney home has remembered her as loving and caring.

Nunia Kurualeba, 21, was found dead with two stab wounds to her chest after police were called to the Great Western Highway in Kingswood about 1.40pm yesterday.

Her partner Jeremaia Tuwai, also aged 21, allegedly fled the scene and sparked a six-hour manhunt before he was found and arrested hours later the next suburb over in Penrith.

Tuwai was charged with domestic violence murder.

Kurualeba had moved from Fiji to Sydney to be closer to her younger sister and worked as a housekeeper.

“She was a loving sister to me, she always cared about me, every time when I needed her, she was here,” her sister Laite Kurualeba told 9News.

“I have a four-month-old baby that she always cared about.”

Kurualeba was happiest when she was playing netball or when she was surrounded by friends and family.

“She loved everyone, she had a lot of friends,” Laite Kurualeba said.

“She’s funny, she makes noise, every time she comes home I tell her to keep her voice level down, she doesn’t listen.”

Kurualeba thought she had found love with Tuwai, also from Fiji, who she dated for a year before they moved in together at the Kingswood unit.

It was there Tuwai allegedly stabbed her with a kitchen knife.

“She didn’t deserve what happened to her,” Laite Kurualeba said.

Tuwai was formally refused bail at Penrith Court today, where he appeared via videolink.

His lawyer requested that he receive mental health treatment while behind bars.
